Nanosphere Research Using Dynamic Light Scattering

NANOSPHERE RESEARCH USING DYNAMIC LIGHT SCATTERING

Hollow nanosphere aggregates is an expanding area of scientific interest as it has exciting potential encapsulation capabilities for compounds in medical applications. A new customer report details how the BI-200SM Research Goniometer has been used to help characterise the construction of hollow nanospheres by self-assembly of alginate-graft-poly(ethylene glycol) (Alg-g-PEG) and x-cyclodextrin (x-CD) in aqueous solution.

LIGHT SCATTERING: A KEY TOOL FOR PERFORMANCE POLYMER CHARACTERISATION

Light Scattering is widely acknowledged as the 'go to' method for polymers to give an average molecular weight with no need for chemical separation or additional purification. Other parameters that can be obtained include chain length, degree of polymerization, radius of gyration, and persistence length. All these macromolecular properties directly impact the bulk properties of resulting blends or plastics, making these properties critical when producing novel polymers.
